A loan helped women-owned restaurant add local employment and overcome COVID challenges.
I was born and raised in a small village in India. Growing up, my family would gather every day in a circle to share stories of our day while enjoying a home-cooked meal together. The food was served in a banana leaf because we didn't have enough plates for everyone (which only made it taste better). When I immigrated to the United States, it was always my dream to open my own restaurant and re-create that magical feeling I felt as a child growing up in India with my family. I wanted people in the Bay Area to be able to come to a local restaurant and gather with friends and family around a table to exchange stories and create priceless memories together, over a delicious home-cooked style food. This was the inspiration behind my restaurant. I love the opportunity to recommend different dishes and expose other cultures to the aromatic and flavorful spices that make up Indian food. The people that I encounter deepen my passion for food and keep me motivated to continue growing my restaurant. I want to see my restaurant bring joy and laughter to those in my local community and beyond and I believe food is a great way to accomplish that.
