Pa Khoang 55 Group's story

Suoi, age 46, is the grandmother of two grandchildren who are getting married soon. She currently lives with her husband, her son, her daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren in a small house located in a poor remote area. Most of her family’s income is derived from agricultural production including rice, cows, chickens, and fish. Her son and daughter-in-law are working in order to bring more income into the family. However, their overall income is quite low and unstable. For this reason, they are always challenged by the lack of capital to improve their farming.

This is the fourth time that Suoi has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program. She will use the proceeds to buy young fish in order to expand her fish farm. Suoi hopes to raise healthy fish so that she can generate a quick profit. With the income she earns, she will continue to invest in more fish.

Suoi did not have the opportunity to pursue a higher education because her family was poor. However, she wants her grandchildren to have the best education. In the photo, Suoi is the first person on the right.
