Joanna Mary's story

Joanna Mary is a 40-year-old mother of four. Her children are of ages 23, 21, 12 and 6. She is married and her husband is currently working under the Recognized Seasonal Employers scheme doing horticulture work in New Zealand.

She lives with her children in her own home which is located just five minutes' drive to Port Vila's international airport. Joanna Mary's community is very small, and the main industry is service, as there are a lot of privately owned businesses located in it. Making an income in her community has been satisfactory, as people from businesses and houses come around to support the locals.

Joanna Mary has requested a loan to help her pay for retail goods to stock up her small retail shop so she can better provide for her neighboring customers, and also to purchase a bag of raw peanuts to roast and increase her income. She wants to increase her stock to meet her customers' needs and wants. With the revenue she receives, she will open a retail shop in her home island in Tanna, which is located 224 kilometers away from Port Vila city. Joanna Mary trusts that as her business grows, she can achieve her dreams and become a successful businesswoman in the near future.
