Las Rosas De Bacajia Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more clothing, including underwear for women and children.

Las Rosas De Bacajia Group's story

Although 37-year old Maria only had a 6th grade education, she is motivated to see that her 3 children (9-19) complete their educational studies. Her oldest son attends university and the younger two are still in elementary school. Along with her husband, she wants to improve the standard of living for the household. Maria sells clothing including underwear and women’s nightwear, as well as multivitamin supplements. She is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy more clothing including pants and underwear for women and children.

Maria is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Rosas de Bacajia” in the department/state of Retalhuelu. There are 6 other women in the group who look forward to their monthly meetings. Maria is the Secretary. Their businesses range from the sales of tomatoes by the box, to “mashan” leaves (used for wrapping cheese and tamales), to regional snack foods, tortillas, to purses, clothing and nutritional supplements. They look forward to their monthly meetings when they make loan payments and then participate in interactive educational trainings that give them pertinent information about themselves (self esteem, empowerment, women’s rights androles), their families (health, hygiene, nutrition) and their businesses (planning, budgeting, investing, savings). The ladies also have access to basic health care services and consults every two months.

Thank you, Kiva investors!
