08-Diacounda Group's story

This group, made up of 6 women, formed their banc villageois in April, 2008. Its members live in the same neighborhood and are very supportive. They are engaged in small business.

Madame Fatou, the only one in the photo on account of the restrictions implemented due to Covid-19, is the representative of the group. She is 33 years old, married, and the mother of 3 children. She is also raising 5 other children.

Madame Fatou owns a small shop where she sells clothes. With her new loan, she plans to buy sugar, baobab fruit, bissap [hibiscus], etc. to make ice cream and also second-hand clothing for resale. Her profits will allow her to strengthen her business and take care of her household.
