08-Diacounda Group's story

Made up of 23 women, this group adheres to the banc villageois since its inception in April 2008. They live in the same village and share the values of solidarity of assistance. The are all active in small commerce.

Madame Abibatou is alone in the photo due to the social distancing requirement due to Covid-19. Madame Abibatou is married but the couple has no children. Nonetheless, she cares for 10 children. She has a small stall close to the primary school in the village where she sells candies to the students.

With this new loan, she intends to buy baobab fruit, sugar, dried hibiscus flowers and other ingredients to make ice cream. She will also buy flour for the candie to sell to the children. The profits will supplement her savings and manage her daily needs.
