Community-Owned Bank Of Curti Colono's story

Curti Colono is a small and rural community that is mostly made up of farmers. The main products farmed in this community are plantains, cocoyam, and cassava.

The Community-Owned Bank of Curti Colono started in 2020 and it is a small, women-led financial institution that provides the members of the community with the ability to have savings, take out small loans, and have access to financial literacy. A lot of members in this community are financially excluded from more traditional financial institutions, but the Community-Owned Bank provides these members with a chance at financial inclusion in their own community.

The members are very committed to the growth of the rural bank since it has given them the opportunity to improve their quality of life. By giving a loan to the Community-Owed Bank of Curti Colono, you are providing access to financial services to farming families and creating jobs during the crucial planting season. They requested their first Kiva loan to provide working capital for agricultural production for its 16 entrepreneurial members.

This community bank receives weekly monitoring and training from Global Brigades staff, guaranteeing transparency, empowerment, and financial inclusion for the inhabitants of Curti Colono.
