Vertilia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy freezers and expand a family-owned fish distribution microenterprise.

Vertilia's story

Meet Vertilia!

Vertilia is the owner of a small store that serves as a cornerstone of the local community. Vertilia’s husband is an avocado farmer and an active fisherman. The two supply their store with essential food products such as rice, avocados, fish, and other fresh meats. The fish is caught fresh from the sea and requires consistent refrigeration. With the loan, they are looking to buy more freezers and expand their offerings.

With a steady flow of 30-40 customers a day, she is looking to expand her business to store more inventory with the hopes of catering to more customers. Ultimately, she would like to move to a bigger location and become a small supermarket with a larger offering. As she expands she would like to hire more people as she relies on her 9-year-old son for help as well as occasional assistance from other family members. Maintaining and operating her store can be difficult while also making time for her kids and husband.
