Doriane's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy white fabric and fabric paint for her business.

Doriane's story

Doriane lives in a rural district that is a 15-minute drive outside of the city of Port Vila. Her community is small and the main industries are agriculture and fishing. The people of Vanuatu love their local food, so making an income in these sectors can be very good. Doriane is happily married and has two children, ages 14 and 12. She is 36 years old and lives with her family in their own home.

Doriane is requesting a loan to buy white fabric and fabric paints in order to do cloth printing for her customers. She wants to create new types of patterns in order to attract more customers. This will help to increase her revenue, which she will use to invest in her children’s education and to build a better house for her family. Doriane learned fabric painting at a workshop that she attended. She believes that what she learned will benefit her business.

Doriane also has a small retail shop that generates additional income for her family. She dreams of having a storefront where she can sell her handcrafted products to locals and visitors who pass by. Doriane has been with SPBD-Vanuatu for more than two years and this will be her third loan. She faithfully repaid her previous loans on time.

As she gains more experience with each loan, Doriane is motivated to expand her business so that her children can have something of their own.
