Janet Litong's story

Janet Litong lives in a village which is located 6 kilometres away from Port Vila city. Her community is situated along the southern coastline of Efate island and is quite large. The main industry is agriculture. Ni-Vanuatu rely a lot on agriculture for food and income, so making an living has been satisfactory in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Janet Litong is 57 years old and has been separated for several years now. She has five grown up children who are very supportive of their single mother.

Janet Litong has requested a loan to help her pay for her business licence and retail goods which she will stock up her shop to increase her income.

Her shop is the largest in her community and being able to provide for her customer’s needs and wants brings pride and joy to her. With the revenue earned, she will renovate her shop. Janet Litong has now been in her business for 20 years.

She dreams of upgrading her business and buying a car which will be an asset to her business to help with transporting cargo to her shop.
