Jesus Magdalena's story

31 year old Jesus Magdalena is in a common-law marriage and has 2 children ages 14 and 7 years. Her partner works as a driver and they live in Los Arenales, part of the city of Portoviejo, a place with beautiful beaches whose inhabitants mostly live from fishing and which is still gravely affected by the sanitary emergency caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Jesus Magdalena is a hardworking woman who finds a way to earn an income to help her spouse with household expenses. In spite of hardships she keeps on fighting. She cleans and sells fish, buying small fish such as alewife (a type of herring) which she steeps in salt and lemon, packages into tubs and sells to traders who use them to prepare delicious ceviches. Even though she is scared of getting ill she keeps going.
This loan is to purchase fish and containers to package and sell.
