Sophonie's story

I am the founder and owner of Ann Sophie LLC, a fashion and online retail boutique. I love fashion and modeling started in Haiti. As a youth, growing up in a school where I was required to wear uniforms, my sense of style always found ways to shine through. I would find ways to alter and accessorize my uniform to represent my unique sense of style. As a result, I was chosen, out of all the girls at my school, to represent the school at a local modeling show. While attending college in Haiti, I turned my drive and energy towards the improvement of rights for Haitian women. Thus, I helped to build a non-profit organization called Ethno- Fanm that is focused on economic empowerment for Haitian women. When I emigrated to the US seven years ago, one of my main goals was to continue my work in the area of social justice and empowerment for women. I decided to combine my love of fashion and my passion to serve women into a fashion movement to help women achieve “fashion independence.” . I am very passionate about challenging the current fashion trends. So, I want to make fashion accessible to the everyday woman without the cheap, low-quality feel associated with "fast fashion". My desire is to provide unique, quality, beautiful, and custom fashion wear to everyday women. My goal is to offer beauty and style that represents unique fashion looks from the Caribbean and other places. I want to highlight fashion and design from countries and regions. I want to inspire and impact other women with design ideas from afro-centric countries. I will use these cross-cultural designs to inspire clothing, handbags, and jewelry that will make women feel beautiful, special, and unique.
