Justina Elsa's story

Justina Elsa and her family live in Los Bajos de Montecristi. It is known for it's crafts made of toquilla straw, wicker, piquigua ((Heteropsis ecuadorensis) and wood. It's fine hats made from toquilla straw are known as “Panama Hats” and are famous throughout the country and the world.

At her house and itinerantly Justina Elsa earns a living selling a variety of clothing for women, men and children. She has also started selling via social media and WhatsApp, delivering to homes. She continues to leave goods on credit with her customers who pay every week-end. The quarantine at the start of the pandemic left her without work out of fear of getting sick and the various restrictions that stopped her going out to sell. But now she is working following health protocols.

This loan will be used to buy pyjamas. bathrobes, t-shirts, shorts, pants, jeans, etc. Her dream is to have her own store and continue with her sales and for her family to remain healthy.
