Emily's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals from local farmers to sell to her customers and at the local market.
Emily is a 35-year-old mother of three, living in Kitale, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain farming, dairy, and horticultural farming. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past twelve years, enabling her to support her family. Through farming, she has given her family a solid reputation. Emily has decided to request a loan to buy different varieties of cereals from local farmers to sell to her customers and at the local market. She will earn a commission that she will use to repay the loan and elevate her standard of living. This loan is a new opportunity for her. Her irregular income and lack of collateral security limit her access to loans from commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, Emily will be able to support her family at this time when the Covid-19 pandemic has affected food systems, food security, and agricultural livelihoods.
