A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified quality seeds and fertilizer, so an ever-smiling mom can improve her crop farming and eventually improve her standard of living.

Christina's story

Even though Christina (a 62-year-old mom) has faced many ups and downs in life, she always smiles. She lives in the Nandihills area of Kenya and has a lovely family. Her family is the greatest thing in her life and something that makes her feel accomplished.

Christina, a crop farmer, is working hard and learning good farming practices. The biggest constraint to her success is the use of poor-quality fertilizer and lack of certified seeds.

She is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizer. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs.

This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family.

Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Kenya now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.
