Dorothy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, which she plans to use to improve her production and make more profits to support her family.

Dorothy's story

Dorothy is 48 years old. She lives in Chuka, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is a mixed animals and crop farmer, who has been farming for the past five years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Dorothy is requesting this loan to buy farm inputs, which she plans to use to improve her production and make more profits to support her family. The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Dorothy is hopeful that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request.
