A loan helped to buy cooking utensils.

Las Rieles Group's story

The communal bank "Las Rieles" includes nine members. The president, Jhenny, is on the left in the photo, in the gold jacket; in the middle is Helen, the treasurer, in the coffee-colored jacket; and on the right is Felipa, the secretary, in the coffee-colored sweater and a shawl.

When she was young, Helen began to work as an assistant in kitchens in various restaurants and inns. That was where she learned the business of selling food, and thus she was able to help with household expenses. As an assistant, she began with serving, then came to help in preparation of the food. That was how she saw the possibility of working independently. When she began to sell on her own, she prepared only a few dishes. In time, she gained more clients, and now she prepares more dishes; her specialty is fried chicken.

The loan she requests is to buy more cooking utensils, to be able to prepare a greater variety of dishes in greater quantity.

In the photograph, there are only three people due to the need to respect social distancing and bio-security measures, due to the worldwide pandemic now being experienced.
