Emprendedoras De Ixcamal Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy paper, pens and notebooks.

Emprendedoras De Ixcamal Group's story

Gladis is the President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank "Las Emprendedoras de Ixcamal" in the department of San Marcos. This 39 year old woman is truly remarkable because she studied for a year to become a secondary school teacher and values an education for her 3 children, 5, 17 & 18 years old. Her 2 eldest children have received high school degrees in electronics and her youngest is in kindergarten.

Gladis has 3 businesses; an internet cafe, a typing service, and an animal husbandry business (chickens and pigs)

Now, she would like to open a mini bookshop to provide additional services to her internet cafe. Gladis is requesting a Kiva loan to buy reams of paper, pens and notebooks.

Besides Gladis, there are 8 other Spanish speaking members of the group, who meet monthly to make loan payments and then engage in educational sessions in 4 areas: business, women's issues, health and family, all part of the Friendship Bridge "Microcredit Plus" program. Each month a Facilitator leads a training in an area such as saving, budgeting, good health skills, women's empowerment or developing self-esteem. The ladies say these sessions help them build success in their businesses - animal husbandry (sheep, pigs, chickens), reselling animals, convenience stores, internet cafes, or typing services. Bimonthly, they can meet with a visiting nurse, who provides them with basic health care services.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for giving these ladies a helping hand!
