A loan helped to buy mulberry and tapa paper for her tapa-making business.

Paea's story

Meet Paea. She is 59 years old, and she is a mother to her only daughter and a wife to a farmer. They live at their own home on the island of 'Eua.

Paea joins a group of women in their village, where they work together in making tapas. Their tapa-making process only occurs once every week, and they spend the rest of the week preparing their soft tapas and completing other family chores. Paea designs her tapas with traditional designs then sells them to earn money for her family. Her daughter is her main helper. Her daughter helps with preparing soft tapas, and when Paea is busy, her daughter represents her in the tapa-making process.

This loan will help Paea to buy mulberry and tapa paper for her tapa-making business. She is planning on making more tapas, not only to sell out and earn money for her family but also for her daughter's wedding next year.
