A loan helped to buy more maize from smallholder farmers in her community to sell in the market.

Marta's story

Marta is 34, a Mozambican mother of 5 pairs of twins who lives in Sussundenga.

Marta is a farmer business advisor who helps smallholder farmers to get access to the market, offering them good prices for their crops. Marta also has a small inputs shop where she sells certified seeds and fertilizers, helping local farmers to have a better yield in their farms.

However, Marta´s history was not that perfect. Before joining iDE´s trainings, it was very difficult for Marta to have a fixed market and to deal with both clients and suppliers. Thanks to the assistance of an older advisor, also trained by iDE, Marta was able to jump to another level in her business.

Since she is a trusted agro-dealer, clients often request her to buy their crops. This is why Marta is requesting her first Kiva loan, to buy more maize from smallholder farmers in her community to sell in the market.
