Maria Luisa's story

Maria belongs to the Despertar (Wake up) Community Bank. She most enjoys the meetings and the accessible loan system. She is married and has four children, three of whom are students, and one who is preparing to go to university. Maria sells clothing in various markets, clothing which she has obtained in Lima. She also runs a restaurant in rented premises. She does this on a daily basis with help from her husband. It’s a business she started a year ago and it’s doing well. Maria is asking for a loan of 2,500 soles to buy a freezer in which she will keep desserts. Her dreams are to add a third floor to her house and to see her daughter go to university and do well in life.
