Mary's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Mary's Group's story

Pictured above is Mary, often described as an extremely experienced farmer. She is 50 years old and, as a group leader, she is representing her group of 16 farmers in Teso District, Kenya.

Mary is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that she is able to have access to the best seed prices, which is why she decided to join in the first place. Mary says that she is happy to have made that decision because, since she first joined in 2016, she has learnt alot from farming trainings, which has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Mary will use the profits from this season to invest in a business.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 10.75 acres. Additionally, some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light so, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 5 solar lights.
