Maria's story

Maria Tuvaina lives in a very large village which is located 10 kilometres away from Port Vila City. The main industry is agriculture, as Ni-Vanuatu rely a lot on it for income and food it has been quite alright for one to make an earning.

Maria Tuvaina is 46 years old and married to a local bus driver. She has 2 children of ages 20 and 16, both of whom are attending college. She is living with her family in their own home.

Maria Tuvaina has requested a loan to help her pay for housing materials which she will use to build her family's bathroom and also baking ingredients which she will stock up her kitchen so she can bake delicious mincemeat donuts for her customers.

Maria Tuvaina learned to make mincemeat donuts as a youth from her father. She has now been in this business for over 20 years. She dreams of building a permanent home for her family to withstand any natural disasters.

Maria Tuvaina has been with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd for over a year now, and this is her second loan. Her previous loan was paid out faithfully and on time. Through her loans, Maria Tuvaina is motivated to continue in growing her business so she can become a successful entrepreneur.
