Marie Joe's story

Marie Joe lives in an urban district which is located about 5 minutes drive to Port Vila city. Her community is small, and the main industry is food. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic it has been quite alright for one to earn income.

Marie Joe is 44 years of age and happily married to a local bus driver. She has three beautiful children who are of ages 14, 12 and 10. She lives with her family in their own home.

Marie Joe has requested a loan to help her pay for her bus permit, business licence and road worthy so that her bus can provide transport services to her customer to earn income from.

She also has home units that are rented out by students from the University of the South Pacific and also a small poultry farm to better provide for her customers.

With the earned revenue, she will continue with her home units and barbed wire fence which will be used to protect her agriculture farm. Her husband has been very supportive to her business, she has been doing service bus for over a year now. Her home units she started in 2018 while her poultry she started 2 years ago.

This is Marie Joe's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu). She has been devoted to her previous loan repayments. As her businesses slowly grow, Marie Joe feels empowered to continue to expand her business so that her children can have something for their own.
