02_Hawa Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy bags of sugar, sorrel, and monkey bread.

02_Hawa Group's story

This group was created in January 1998 and is made up of supportive women whose principal activity is small retail.

Hawa, who is pictured, is 34 years old, married, and the mother of one daughter. She is the group representative. She is a small retailer and knows her business well.

She plans to use her new loan to buy sorrel and monkey bread (the fruit of the baobab tree) and other ingredients, like sugar, with which to make fruit juice which she will then sell. Sales should be good as it is hot this time of year. She sells most of her juice at the central market.

She plans to use the profits she makes to build her savings in the "banc villageois" and to pay for her daughter's education.
