01_Sangue Douka Group's story

This group of kind women seized the opportunity to become members of the "banc villageois" which was founded in their area in April 1997. These women live in the same village, are relatives, neighbors and friends, and get along well. They work in agriculture and retail and contribute greatly to the development of their community. They are very familiar with lending.

Madame Henriette, the group's representative, is 61 years old. She is the one on the right side of the picture with her hand raised. She is a married mother of six children, one of whom is a boy. All of her children are in school. She works in selling fabrics, bedsheets and various foodstuffs (hibiscus drinks, black-eyed peas, baobab fruit, juice, etc.). She stocks up at the central market and then resells the items from her home in the village. She has about 30 years of significant experience in this sector.

With this new loan, she is planning to buy fabrics, bedsheets, baobab fruit, hibiscus drinks, and black-eyed peas. She has been able to develop customer loyalty because she offers quality products. Her profits will enable her to increase her savings and help support her household.
