01_Medina Niakh Jarinu Group's story

This group is made up of twenty women who belong to the banc villageois and has operated in this region since June 2015. They live in the same neighbourhood and maintain good relations with one another. They have repaid multiple loans by the due date. Their main business is sales.

Madame Gaye is the representative of the group. She is 54 years old and is sitting at the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and the mother of nine children four of whom are girls and three are married. She cares for her two boys who attend school. Note that there are children who are with their mothers and who appear in the photo. Note that they are not lenders.

For the past twenty years, Madame Gaye has been active in the sale of smoked and dried fish. She purchases her stock at the central market and resells from her home to people in her neighbourhood. With this loan she will buy baskets of smoked and dried fish which she will resell at a good profit margin. She has a loyal customer base because she also extends credit.

The profits will be used to supplement her savings at the banc villageois and to take care of her children: school fees, food....
