Throughout school we pressure our children to pick a degree, find something they "want to be," and then go into debt (most not all) to do it while hoping they enjoy or even like it enough to continue it as a lifelong career. I grew up in a rural town, graduated from a tiny high school, and went to college to do what I thought was both expected of me and my dream job. Little did I know my eyes would be opened to the career I was meant for and have now done for 8 years. I started in the floral industry in 2013, while in nursing school. Although it took me two years to realize nursing was not meant for me, and I wasn't sure what was, the one thing that was for certain is the floral industry was my constant. I worked for someone in the floral industry for three years absorbing and learning. Then I ran a shop for someone as a GM until I later opened my own from home. In 2021, I expanded to a storefront. I am motivated to never work for someone again, to have a business of my own, to show my own children, and others that there is more than the three options we had; Get a degree, Join the military, or take a factory job. While our country thrives on those very options one that was never put in front of us, was owning our own businesses. Real Brick and mortar businesses were never even discussed. So I am motivated to show my children, other children, and those that doubted my success just how much I want this business, and that it is an option for them.
