Bella Vista Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabrics, lace and decor for her pretty blouses.

Bella Vista Group's story

Many of the 32,000 women who participate in the Friendship Bridge Microcredit Plus program of loans, education and health care have businesses so that they can help their spouses raise the standard of living for their families.

Elica is one of these women. She is 33 years old, married and the mother of a 3-year old-daughter.

She works hard at her sewing business and helps her husband to cover household expenses. Elica uses her sewing machine to sew beautiful, colorful blouses of her area.

She is now ready to sell them in the huge textile market in the town of Salcaja and is requesting her eighth Kiva loan to buy a variety of fabric, lace and decor. She will wholesale the blouses to vendors at the market.

Elica is one of seven Maya Tz'utujil ladies in the Trust Bank Bella Vista, or Beautiful View in the department/state of Solola.

Since they have little or no formal education, their monthly educational training provides them information related to four topics: health, family, women, business.

Recently, the women have learned about strategies to offer new products to their customers.

Every two months, the women have access to basic medical services like blood pressure and blood sugar checks and PAP smears. This is important because the healthcare system in Guatemala is very poor.

Kiva investors partnering with Friendship Bridge are highly appreciated by Elica and her friends. Thank you to each of you for your generosity!
