Los Pinos Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to resupply her clothing and flower inventory.

Los Pinos Group's story

Sara, a 34-year-old married mother of four children from 5 to 14 years old has worked hard at both of her businesses selling flowers and bed linens. She is very proud of both businesses and also that some of her income enables her children to attend school. Her husband collaborates with her and both parents are committed to the education of their children. She is requesting her third Kiva loan and plans to buy flowers, vases, compost and bed linens (sheets and blankets).

Sara is the treasurer of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Los Pinos,” located in a rural area in the department/state of Chimaltenango. There are six other ladies in the group who speak Maya Kaqchikel and Spanish. They work hard at their convenience stores and their traditional textile and regional snack vending businesses. Others, like Sara, sell flowers.

The women look forward to their monthly educational training sessions, where they learn about everyday topics like nutrition, health, hygiene and the use of medicinal plants. They also acquire basic business management tools like budgeting, planning and investing. Every two months, they have access to basic health-care services. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of loans, education and health care Microcredit Plus. It works!

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your partnership with Friendship Bridge. You are highly appreciated by Sara and her friends, who are opening doors to a brighter and more successful future!
