Gladys's story

Gladys is a 47-year-old mother of six children. They live in Kitale, a town that lies 1,850 meters above sea level in the highlands of Kenya, making it a temperate climate that favors coffee, wheat, barley, maize, bean, and potato farming. Gladys believes that, with discipline, she is capable of attracting massive success. She feeds her family with her mixed dairy and crop farming.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainty and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, are on the front line, combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in this difficult period.

Gladys is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this global health crisis.
