Silvia Ximena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy ground meat, cooking oil, bread, mayonnaise, tomato sauce, cheese, and eggs, etc.

Silvia Ximena's story

Silvia Ximena, age 33, is the single mother of three children; ages 16, 12, and 8. They go to elementary school and high school. They live in their own house. They live in Sosote, which a a parish in the Rocafuerte canton. Its people devote themselves to making objects with 'tagua' (a vegetable ivory). They make sausages (pork entrails) either fried or as a soup. All of this is prepared in clay pots that give it its traditional and unique flavor.

Silvia Ximena has a small space at home where she prepares and sells fast food like 'salchipapas' [a fast-food dish that consists of French fries with sausages or hot dogs], hamburgers, chicken and fries, 'banderazos' (potatoes, sausages, meat, and eggs), and 'calientes' [eggs, cheese, and meat]. She also sells drinks like waters, colas, and juices. She works in the afternoons from 17:00 until 23:00, and sometimes even later.

At first the social isolation left her without work for fear of contagion. However, she is currently complying with the protocols for biosecurity. This loan is for ground meat, cooking oils, mayonnaise, tomato sauce, cheese, and eggs, etc. Her dream is to have a large place in order to be able to tend to her customers and for her children to not get sick from Covid-19.
