Benkadi 1 Group's story
The members of the Benkadi 4 group are ten married women with an average age of 48 and an average of three children. They mostly live in polygamous families in N'djinina, a village in the subprefecture of Fana, Koulikoro region (Mali's Second Administrative District). They work with Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of better organizing their activity as the rainy season begins. They grow peanuts, earth pease, millet and corn. This will be their fifth seasonal loan. Their previous loans have been fully repaid. With this new loan, Minata M. will buy fertilizer before its price goes up. She will also buy small tools and will pay for hired labor to work about 1.3 hectares of peanuts and earth peas. The harvest will be sold in Fana to customers who will mostly resell it. The group members hope for an average profit of CFA 42,500 at the end of the season.
