A loan helped to build a safe latrine at home.

Tha's story

Tha is a 40-year-old, married man with three children living in Tuek Phos District, Kampong Chhnang Province. He is a conscientious rice farmer who owns and manages about two hectares of farmland. He works with his spouse, earning in the vicinity of $6 USD each day. He has been doing this for almost five years. Rice farming provides all of his family’s income. He aspires to achieve financial stability and provide his children with comfortable living conditions.

With his many years of experience, Tha is an expert in taking care of his rice crops and ensuring abundant harvests each year, except for the year of a big flood. However, the way he does farming is still based on the traditional method.

Currently, Tha's house doesn't have a safe latrine, so he cannot provide a sanitary latrine for his family members. He is requesting a loan to build a safe latrine at home. In this way, he hopes to increase the value of his home and improve sanitation, ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of his family and protect the environment.

With the support of this loan, Tha will be able to purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to build a safe latrine and pay for labor costs. He believes that through his hard work and perseverance, he will be able to attain a better standard of living some day.
