Aura Adilia's story

Aura Adilia is a very determined entrepreneur who is starting her ninth cycle with the Namaste Creating Prosperity Program. She is a hard worker who has taken advantage of the opportunities Namaste has offered her. She uses all the information she learns from the financial literacy classes. She takes all the advice offered by her business advisor, and at the end of each loan cycle is eager to continue and learn more. She is 48, went to school through the second grade and is married with five children. The oldest four have finished school and have good jobs. The youngest is 16 and in high school. She speaks both the Mayan language of Kaqchikel and Spanish, and she wears traditional clothing. She lives in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.

Her business has been weaving, sewing, and buying and selling traditional crafts. Much of that business is tourist oriented. During this past year, when there were few tourists, with the help of her business advisor she pivoted her business and began making masks and baskets and started buying and selling secondhand clothing. She has also been designing and weaving traditional clothing to order. She will use her loan to buy crafts and secondhand clothing.

Though she was making much more money before the pandemic, she is starting this loan with a monthly net profit of 3,407 Guatemalan Quetzales ($442). She hopes to increase that to Q4,107 ($533) by the end of this cycle.
