Rick's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped us with the overhead costs associated with vending at the Juneteenth Festival.

Rick's story

My name is Rick and I am the owner of Uncle Ricks Smokehouse, a BBQ caterer and vendor. I am a resident and native of Pittsburgh, Pa but I have also lived in Macon and Atlanta Georgia as well as Washington, DC. I got my start at 12 years old becoming a dishwasher and eventually a cook at the famous Eddies Restaurant in Pittsburghs Hill District. This restaurant had the distinction of being the backdrop for August Wilsons fictional play Two Trains Running. After attending Howard University and working in sales for many years I decided to use my 40 years of experience cooking for friends and family to turn my hobby into a business. They say when you find a way to make a living doing something you love, you will never work another day in your life. Well, cooking is something I love and I am not working. My unique style of smoking meat low and slow over cherry and oak wood sets me apart from other caterers and restaurants here in Pittsburgh. My goal is to become the most successful BBQ caterer in my city and in the near future open up a chain of restaurants specializing in authentic southern BBQ.
