Umoja Virunga Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock up on used clothing, which will strengthen her initial capital.

Umoja Virunga Group's story

Justine is a client with the microfinance institution Hekima and represents the business group Umoja Virunga. She is 42 years old, married and has ten children, seven of whom are enrolled in school; her partner is a salesman.

She established her business selling used clothing 20 years ago using start-up funds she received from her husband. Later she got involved with the Hekima program to support her business, which has been developing progressively. With this new loan, she will stock up on used clothing, which will strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of her business is linked to the lack of customers and to a poor choice of merchandise.

She would like her children to continue their studies and wants to feed her family and develop her business. Finally, she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for the support shown to business owners without access to traditional banking facilities in the context of the global crisis caused by covid-19.
