El Paraiso Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of multi-colored yarn.

El Paraiso Group's story

Isabel, a 20-year-old single woman, currently lives with her parents. She is a very productive woman with the business of weaving "cuts" or typical skirts on a wooden loom.

Weekly, Isabel has four “cuts” ready that she delivers to her community market. Isabel is well known for delivering quality and colorful products.

Although she has only six years of education, Isabel can keep the business accounts. She requests the second loan from Kiva to buy a variety of multi-colored yarn.

Isabel spends her time very busy taking care of the business and her parents. She is also the Treasurer of the Community Bank of Puente de Amistad "El Paraiso."

There are seven other Maya K'iche women in the group, who are dedicated to weaving typical “cuts.” In the monthly trainings, they learn how to manage their businesses, as part of the “Microcredit Plus” program for loans, education, and medical care. Other topics are related to family, women, and health.

Every two months, women have access to preventive health services. For women like Isabel with little formal education, this program is a step towards a brighter future.

Kiva lenders are a source of development for women like Isabel. Thanks!
