Johanna's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase vegetables to pickle and cordials to make ices to sell and increase her income.

Johanna's story

Johanna is a 66-year-old mother of seven. All her children are grown. She has been a widow for over 25 years and currently lives with few of her children in her own home in a rural district located about a five minute drive to Port Vila's international airport. Her community is large, and the main industry is agriculture and food. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been able to continue to earn an income.

Johanna has requested a loan to purchase vegetables, which will be used to produce pickled vegetables (archard), and cordials, which she will make ice pops for her customers, to increase her income. This will help increase her income, which she will save for family emergencies and to support her family financially.

Johanna has been selling her pickled vegetables for over ten years, and she learned the business from her parents. As she grows older, she wants to teach her children and grandchildren to keep the recipe in the family. South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu), Ltd has supported Johanna for over a year now, and this is her second loan. She has been faithful in her loan repayments. Through her loans, Johanna is empowered to expand her business so that her family can have something for their own.
