Janet's story

Janet is a 41-year-old mother of two school-going children living in Meru, a place where every Kiva lender would like to be and enjoy the beautiful climate. She is a resourceful woman who has never been daunted by the ups and downs that she goes through in her day-to-day quest for a better future. Through farming, Janet has sent all her children to school.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is on the forefront line in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs at this difficult period.

Janet is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs and improve her production enabling her to support her family during this challenging economic time. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
