Alice's story

Alice is a 62-year-old who has five grown-up children, Unfortunately, she lost her husband five months ago due to an illness. She currently lives with one of her son's and his family in her own home which is located 45 kilometres from Port Vila city. Her village is small, and the main industry is agriculture.

Vanuatu relies a lot on agriculture for food and income, so making an earning has been satisfactory, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, as the locals demand for local food and products have increased.

Alice has requested a loan to help her purchase fence posts and chicken wire to build a chicken house to accommodate her chickens and increase her income.

She wants to better house her chickens, as leaving them roaming around attracts thieves. This will help better safe guard her chickens. With the earned revenue, she will save up to start her own cattle farm.

Alice has her children around to support her with her poultry farm; she loves taking care of her chickens and has been in this business for several years now.

With her loan, Alice is motivated to achieve her dreams to expand her business, become a successful businesswoman and to enable her family to have something for their own.
