Illira Leiman's story

Illira Leiman is a 33 year old mother of four, her children are of ages 14, 9, 3 and 2. She is married to a local fisherman. She lives with her husband and children in their own home. She lives in a village located 45 kilometres to Port Vila City. Illira Leiman's community is large, and the main industry is agriculture and fishing. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic it has been quite alright for one to make an earning as the demand for local food and products have grown.

She requests a loan to help her purchase baking ingredients which she will use to bake delicious, locally made bread for her valuable customers. She wants to increase her product quantity which will help increase her earnings. With the revenue earned, she will save up to purchase a boat to support her family to make extra income to their home. Illira Leiman has been baking for over 2 years now. Her husband supports her by doing a little fishing to sell to her customers, her husband has been fishing most of his life with his father. South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd has supported Illira Leiman for over 2 years now, and this is her third loan. She has been committed to her former loan repayments. Through her loans, Illira Leiman is empowered to expand her business so her children can have something for their own.
