Getrude's story

Getrude is a 40-year old mother of two school going children living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer with many years of farming experience enabling her be able to send all her children to school. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, fertilizers, pesticides and other important farm inputs have become more accessible to its members. Getrude is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and support her family during this tough period brought about by Covid-19. A loan to her will be vital to achieve food security in her home during this period of global economic recession.
