Faapaia's story

Faapaia is 58 years old and married with 8 children. She lives in a rural village in Samoa. She owns and operates a retail store in her village. She has been running her business for 9 years now. She’s a hardworking person that would do anything to help her family.

Faapaia became a borrower with SPBD 10 years ago and has successfully borrowed and repaid 8 loans. Due to her successful history, she is one of a select group that is eligible for a larger loan. She will use this loan to buy more stock for her shop and expand her business.

With this loan, she will also be supporting her community by making and providing bricks. In the past, Faapaia has used the profits from her business to employ local people as her business grows. In the future, she hopes to build a supermarket at her place to expand her business. Her dream is to build a taxi station at different places to cover the whole country with the good services of her business by providing transportation as well as restocking her retail shop. She became a member of SPBD in 2010. In the past, Faapaia has used the profits from her business to expand the products in her store and help pay for higher education for her children. In the future, Faapaia hopes to open a larger store.
