Makallay's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 36-year-old Makallay from Wilberforce branch. She is married and has two children between the ages of three and seven years old, and two of them are attending school. She started this business to care for herself and support her family.

Makallay runs a retail business and sells clothing, food stuffs, drinks and other assorted items. She has been in this business for four years now. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID-19 pandemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase clothing, drinks, and food stuffs such as rice, palm oil, pepper, fish and other assorted item to increase her business. Makallay says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family welfare. In the future, she would like to establish in to a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC Sierra Leone and Kiva for their support.
