Kalatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 36-year-old Kalatu from Wilberforce branch. She is a widow and has children between the ages of 5 and 13 years of age, and two of them are attending school. She started this business to care for herself and support her family.

Kalatu runs a retail business and sells food stuffs, drinks in a restaurant, and other assorted item. She has been in this business for four years now. Her other source of income comes from her other business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID-19 pandemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase food stuffs such as rice, palm oil, pepper, fish and other assorted items to increase her business. Kalatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family's welfare.

In the future, she would like to establish in to a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC Sierra Leone and Kiva for their support.
