Mary's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs, in order to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Mary's story

Mary is 64 years old and single. She lives in Engineer, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past many years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Mary seeks a loan to buy farming inputs, in order to improve her production and make more income to support her family. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic!
