Las Carmelitas Group's story

This communal bank is called “Las Carmelitas.” The are participating in the Poverty Stoplight Program. Two of the twenty-two women fall below the poverty line, which is to say, they are in extreme poverty. The are working hard to improve their situations and get ahead with their families.

Among the members, Maria is worth mentioning. She sells all kinds of beverages and says that the has a modest shop where she works every day. She has a set clientele that always come to her shop. Maria started out modestly and has been growing her business little by little through constant effort and hard work, which she says she wants to keep doing. That is why Maria decided to join the communal bank; she saw it as an opportunity to be able to keep growing.

Maria is requesting this loan so she can purchase all kinds of beverages, which will allow her to keep selling, like always. Maria is happy about this opportunity, which will be a great help to her.
