A loan helped to purchase foodstuffs: rice, palm oil, pepper, fish and other assorted items to increase her business.

Isata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 35-year-old Isata from Wilberforce branch. She is married with two children between the ages of 9 and 15 years old and two of them are attending school. She started this business to care for herself and support her family.

Isata runs a retail business selling cooking ingredients and other assorted items. She has been in this business for 10 years now. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID 19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs: rice, palm oil, pepper, fish and other assorted items to increase her business. Isata says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family's welfare. In the future, she would like to establish a larger-scale business. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
