Donika's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for needed expenses for the upcoming planting season so she will be able to keep providing for her family.

Donika's story

Donika is 56 and has three sons ages 30, 28 and 26. Donika, her husband and their sons live in a small, but well-arranged house in a village nearby Korca city.

She has been running a store in their village for 15 years; she sells food and some other items, such as toiletries. In addition to running the store, she also owns about eight dynyms (a tenth of a hectare) of agricultural land where she plants mainly corn; this year, according to her, she only sold 20 quintal (50 kg) compared to previous years when she sold more.

“The weather was terrible this year with lots of rains and snow; it damaged our products. If this was not enough, we also had the problem of selling the harvest due to restrictions in transportation caused by the pandemic period,” said Donika. She also has 15 beehives, yet did not sell any honey due to the fact that at her village there were no tourists during this period.

Donika is hoping for Kiva lenders' support to pay for needed expenses for the upcoming planting season so she will be able to keep providing for her family.
